House Training A Puppy

Learn how to easily house train your puppy

House Training a Puppy While Working

If you are working and still fond of keeping puppies or get a cute little one from one of your closest friends, you need to know how to train them. First of all, you need to train your dog to be restricted in one area because you can’t leave a young puppy roaming around in your house while you are at work from say 9 to 5. And you are one of the animal freedom voice raisers then please don’t blame your untamed puppies when they have messed enough with the cleanliness and order of the house.

To restrict the puppy to one area, one can always count on a crate, kennel, puppy pen or even baby gates to restrict them. This will help you to train the puppy to eat, drink and even litter (in case the puppy is too young) in a specific place.

The second thing to do is make your puppy punctual by feeding him on specific schedules and then taking him out after a specific time to litter train him. This will help both you and the puppy to get adjusted to different timings as you’re not at home all the time. The puppy would not get hungry at that time and you will feed him at the time you are back at home.

You can observe the sleep cycles of the puppy and can train him according to the desired timings ,like some part of time you are not home. So this will also help the puppy to get trained to stay at home all alone on his own.

In order to mould their behaviors according to your desire, make sure you reward and punish them from time to time. This will help them to reinforce the desired behaviors when required and will prevent them to behave in an undesired manner.

The rewards can be in the form of longer walk (which most of the puppies adore), more time to play, some kind of puppy biscuits, or a bone, or even a good pat on his back or head will do well for him. Punishments can be in the form of delayed food timings, a scold, a slight painful whack or even a “umhmm bad puppy!!” quote. After all if he is your faithful friend he will definitely get that.

In order to understand your puppy’s physiological needs as well as psychological ones, it is recommended to consult a good veterinary doctor, as he will able to translate on the needs and wants of your pet according to his age, because different ages require different nutrition and psychological treatment.

Use healthy and quality dog food for your puppy because due to your work, you can’t afford to have a sick puppy that needs to be taken to a vet time after time. Use necessary disinfectants and pesticides as prescribed by vet.

In short due to your work you can’t give your puppy lot of time, but make sure that you give him proper quality time to him, for he is your best friend either you admit it or not!!
